At American Tour Golf Schools, we believe that golf is not necessarily
a recreational pastime… it is an athletic endeavor.
The ATGS golf training philosophy and teaching progression are based
upon current biomechanical principles that result in a reduction of compensating
moves, creating greater efficiency and a more powerful golf swing.
ATGS focuses on the time-tested fundamentals of set-up, hand position
on the club, posture, balance, and alignment. A wide variety of training
aides and high-tech analysis are used to simplify and shorten the learning
(improvement) process.
At ATGS, we pay particular attention to the balance and correct spine
angle, teaching a rotary swing that revolves around the spine. Consistency
in the golf swing comes when the body can rotate around a stable spine
angle, allowing the hands and arms to take a passive role. Both clubhead
speed and a solid ball contact are increased when the spine angle
is held constant throughout the motion of the swing.
Blending physics and biomechanics, ATGS programs are designed to maximize
the results for each student. We understand that practice makes
permanent, and only perfect practice makes perfect. This is why ATGS takes
such
a hands-on approach to teaching the physics and biomechanics of
golf instruction,
thus enabling the student not only to understand the mechanics of
a correct golf swing, but to be able to duplicate the correct motion,
time after
time.
“Biomechanics teaches us that it takes 350 repetitions to make
a motion a habit,” said David L. Forbes, III, owner and chief executive officer
of American Tour Golf Schools. “We have developed drills, golf training
aids and golf swing tips to help each student not only produce the most
efficient motion for a proper golf swing, but also to make that proper
and efficient motion a habit.”
